Sarah Boileau

Born in 1984, Sarah grew up in the small town of Fort St James, BC. As a child, she was heavily influenced by her mom’s passion for photography and the outdoors. Her parents took her on many trips to the mountains and other remote locations that strongly influenced her ideas of beauty.

Very creative from an early age, Sarah excelled in art and was recognized many times for her various artistic achievements. When she was 18, Sarah moved to Alberta and spent 12 years working as a surveyor in the highway construction industry. While the hours were extended during the work season, she had several months off every winter to practice her painting skills.

Sarah started painting with oils in 2004 and is mainly self-taught. She has also learned much from other artists over the years. In 2016, she decided to move back to BC to pursue an art career. Her current style is realistic. She likes to paint landscapes with strong sculptural shapes and interesting light.

Sarah lives and paints full-time in Nanaimo, BC and is an exhibiting member of the FCA. Her paintings have been exhibited at shows around Vancouver Island and have received many awards and honourable mentions over the years, including an award of excellence at the Sooke Fine Arts Show in 2024.

She is an Artist in Residence at The Old School House in Qualicum Beach.
