Richard Alm
Richard Alm is a Canadian artist whose work spans vivid landscapes, urban and rural scenes, and portraits, marked by a dynamic use of colour and dimension. Based in Nanoose Bay, British Columbia, Alm brings a unique perspective to his art, influenced by his experiences studying Fine Arts at the University of Saskatchewan and an international career in communication and design.
Alm’s art is deeply rooted in his commitment to realism, but he also explores the boundaries of traditional painting by adding a three-dimensional aspect to his canvases. This approach is inspired by the Italian Spatialist Group, which challenges the idea of a painting as a purely two-dimensional medium. Through techniques incorporating a sense of physical space and layering, he achieves a depth that draws viewers into his pieces, creating an immersive experience beyond conventional landscape art.
In addition to his artistic work, Alm is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists with a Signature designation, a recognition that underscores his dedication to both his craft and the Canadian art community. This affiliation reflects his commitment to fostering a network of artists and promoting Canadian art.
