Margery Blom
I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Always the artist, creating and making things throughout my childhood, my dream was to attend Art School. I graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Art where I earned my B.F.A. (Bachelor or Fine Arts ) degree and a few years later my Bachelor of Education degree.
In 2013 I took an early retirement after working as a high school teacher in Winnipeg and relocated to Vancouver Island. My journey led to the fulfillment of another dream! I joined our art community and am now a full time artist!
I am seriously involved with the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville, where I hold the position of ‘Faculty Director’ for the School for the Creative Arts, and I also teach many classes and workshops in Oil Painting. Along with this, I am also part of the gallery committee and coordinate our wonderful artists in residence.
I am a representational oil painter with a love of nature, all its vibrant colours, light and reflections. It inspires me to create colourful, bold, dynamic and magical works of art.
I am an active member of the FCA, ( Federation of Canadian Artists). My work can be seen at the McMillan Arts Centre, Qualicum art Supplies and Gallery, the New PCC centre, and in various locations on Vancouver Island throughout the year.
