D.F. Gray
Pastels of Life

D.F. Gray was awarded the ‘Pastel Silver Plate’ by the Pastel Society of Canada. The Steveston Grand Prix of Art Trophy is named ‘The Gray Cup’ as that event was inspired by Qualicum’s ‘Grand Prix of Art’, which Dan started over 30 years ago. Dan is along our inspiring Salish Sea with his easel and pastels. Born in Vancouver, Dan has worked in soft pastel working from life for over 50 years.

His subjects range from models, musicians, crowds, automotive events and our island shores and landscapes. He has worked in the Great Bear Rainforest, appearing in ‘Reflections Art For An Oil- \Free Coast’. Dan painted on his travels through Europe, Central America, Canada, Mexico and the USA and displayed works in Vancouver, Quebec, New York, Toronto, Florida, Paris and locally on Vancouver Island.
