Christopher Smith

Born in October 1953 in San Francisco, California, Chris began working in Stained Glass in 1975 as an apprentice to the Glass Head Studio in Nelson, B.C. That same year he spent a semester at ACAD, blowing glass. He moved to Vancouver Island and opened Glaskrafter Art Glass in 1977.

Chris has exhibited at the 1983, '85 and '88 B.C. Festival of the Arts showcase gallery. He also exhibited work in 'Glass Act' 1 and 2 at the Fort Langley Museum.

He studied fused glass with Brock Craig and glass casting with Erik Whittmore at Bullseye Glass. He is presently involved in kiln casting glass—notably glass salmon and trout. Working with a few notable mid-island artists has created three art installation projects highlighting the local environment and watersheds.
